Licensed Specialist School Psychologist DFW Metroplex Responsibilities

Our LSSP evaluates students with emotional, social, and/or behavioral concerns.  The Licensed Specialist School Psychology team member will assess the educational needs of charter schools K-12 students referred to special education. We work cooperatively with the teachers and the special education team to help our students and families thrive.

  • Determine and utilize appropriate tests for evaluations, scoring, and interpreting test data. Evaluate the functioning of intellectual, emotional, behavioral, and/or adaptive behavior.
  • Compile and evaluate comprehensive student information, including classroom observations; personal interviews with the student, teacher(s), parents, and others; and relevant assessment data from the student’s cumulative folder.
  • Consult with parents and teachers concerning students’ intellectual, emotional, social, and behavioral functioning educational needs and the interpretation of assessment data.
  • Write the psychological evaluation reports and behavior management plan. Make recommendations for special education eligibility of students for special education programs based on serious emotional disturbance and /or other disabilities.
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpreting assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
  • Facilitate case management of evaluations through involvement with campus intervention and/or evaluation team meetings, consultation with parents and teachers, observations, and behavior management plans
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy. Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.

LSSP Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
  • Knowledge of best practices for evaluation and consultation and research-based intervention strategies and models
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • 3+ years experience as an LSSP in a school setting
